FOUNDER | OUT PROUD ORGANIZATION OF FILMMAKERS | FILMMAKER | ACTOR

Brent Duncan is an award-winning maverick director/writer with a 35+ year career in the Entertainment Industry. “I started in community theatre, then regional professional theatre, then boom, I got a national commercial and an agent”. Mr. Duncan went to film school in his early thirties, then began the climb all over again. “I was a terrible coffee boy. But I was watching everyone, learning everything I could.” He became a skilled “pitchman”, then jumped into business plans and distribution. Finally spending the most recent years in hands on production in the AD departments of Films, TV shows and Commercials. He saw a need for bridging the gap between student/intern to skilled industry positions. “We did our best to be certain the at least some doors could be opened for those willing to do the work.” He would go on to pioneer narrative storytelling for non-profit organizations, like the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.

Most recently, he founded OUT PROUD ORGANIZATION OF FILMMAKERS, aka Out Proud Films. “There is this agonizing need for funding our own stories, if we want them told.” The years spent pitching to investors, then watching corporate structured productions water down the very core of the story so passionately sold, laid bare this weakness in Indie Film production and marketing. “I’m here in Atlanta to build the community of Independent Film, TV and all future media. It’s the most fertile storytelling environment, and we need great stories.”
