volunteer

Putting on a film festival takes a lot of work – and a lot of people. We are always looking for volunteers who want to help throughout the year and during the festival make Out On Film happen. Here are some of our committees.

our committees

Programming Committee

The Programming Committee screens hundreds of films to create the final festival schedule.  The committee then works to make the final schedule one that is diverse and community-minded. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining a master list of all films, runtimes and showtimes, so that we can keep them consistent on all platforms – our website, our program guide, app and the information we provide to the public and media.

Please note, there are limited spots available for the programming committee. (THIS COMMITTEE IS NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICANTS)

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee’s goal is to reach more people every year, and put individuals and organizations in touch with programming that is particularly relevant for them. We like to work with as many groups as possible and we are looking for individuals to serve as liaisons between us and them. We are looking for individuals to proactively go after more opportunities. Additionally, they create a wider public presence for Out On Film by working with local, regional and national press to pitch stories, as well as social media to promote the festival and events. This includes keeping our website and social media accounts updated with current content, as well as graphic design for posters, postcards, banners and print advertising. We are also looking for photographers and videographers to document our in-person events. (THIS COMMITTEE IS NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICANTS)

Operations Committee

The Operations Committee is responsible for the operations of all the film-related events throughout the year. Tasks include box office, transportation, taking tickets, handing out and collecting surveys and ballots, setting up reserved seats, and remaining in and near the theater in case any problems arise. This committee serves mostly during the festival.

Development/Fundraising Committee

The Development Committee plays a crucial role by pursuing funding to support Out On Film and nurturing relationships with current and potential donors and funders. This committee also looks for ways to create fundraising opportunities. This is an ongoing, year-long committee.
