Out On Film overview

Out On Film stands as Atlanta’s premier LGBTQ+ film festival and remains one of the few elite festivals in the United States to hold both Oscar® and BAFTA® qualifying status. For nearly four decades, the festival has served as a vital cultural anchor for queer storytelling, bridging the gap between world-class cinema and a passionate, values-driven audience through education, community engagement, and the art of film.

The 2026 Festival Experience

The festival is set to return for an eleven-day celebration from September 24 through October 4, 2026. Following a record-breaking 2025 season that welcomed nearly 17,000 attendees and showcased more than 150 global films, the upcoming year promises even greater reach. Beyond the screen, Out On Film hosts five days of intensive educational panels and industry conversations, complemented by high-energy parties and networking mixers that connect filmmakers, executives, and audiences in a truly meaningful environment.

A Destination for Global Icons

The festival has solidified its reputation as a magnet for the industry's most influential voices and decorated talents. Past special guests include Colman Domingo, the Academy Award® and BAFTA® nominee for Rustin and Emmy® winner for Euphoria, whose celebrated work in The Color Purple and Sing Sing has made him a titan of modern cinema. He is joined in our history by trailblazers like Angelica Ross, the celebrated star of FX’s Pose and American Horror Story, and Scott Evans, known for his scene-stealing roles in the blockbuster Barbie and the long-running hit Grace and Frankie. We also take pride in our connection to LGBTQ+ pioneers like Amanda Bearse, the iconic Married... with Children star and director who recently returned to the big screen in the hit film Bros.
