WELCOME TO OUT ON FILM 2023!
As we dive into our 36th anniversary, we have become one of the major LGBTQIA film festivals around. This year we were named as the top film festival in the nation by the readers of USA Today and 10Best. To have that honor is an amazing testament to those filmmakers, sponsors and patrons who have supported us all these years, and the staff and volunteers who keep us hungry to grow every season.
A few festival highlights include: Our Son (Opening Night Film), Glitter & Doom (Closing Night Film), A Big Hairy Hit: Where the Bears Are: The Documentary, Golden Delicious, Cora Bora, Big Boys, Jewelle: A Just Vision, Kenyatta: Do Not Wait Your Turn, Stuck in Greece: An LGBT Refugee Crisis, Lie With Me, and so much more. Many of our features will be available for streaming and all of our short films will be. We also have our always popular Horror Night, this year with three offerings. We will also host our Oscar® qualifying drama shorts and a reading of the second winner of the Out On Film screenplay competition.
People always ask me why it’s still important to host an LGBTQ film festival. At a time when our community is under attack, it is vital to bring us all together and provide a safe haven – and offer positive portrayals of our entire community.
