“pOSITIVE YOUTH”
Actor and director Charlie David (“Dante’s Cove,” “Mulligans”) documents the experiences of HIV-positive young people, demonstrating that HIV does not discriminate. The subjects of this inspiring film represent the demographic with the highest rate of new HIV infections in the United States: an 18-year-old Canadian First Nations woman who is the primary caregiver for her HIV-positive mother, a 25-year-old white suburban male, a 27-year-old DJ and performer, and a 24-year-old black man who is out to everyone but his mother. The young people’s unique perspectives poignantly exemplify stories from a generation born during the height of the HIV epidemic. Medical and psychological experts also weigh in to provide up-to-date facts and a historical context to show how dealing with an HIV+ diagnosis has changed.
“Positive Youth”
HIV+ youth bravely share their stories and battle stigma in this inspiring film.
